The Homestay School is located in Preytheat village, Leaybo commune in Tramkak district near to a small town, called Ang Ta Som, about a 2 hour drive south of Phnom Penh.
It is fully equipped with a library, two toilets and a handwashing station.
Our newest school, including a well and toilets was completed in October 2015.
It was built with the proceeds from the sale of the Banyan Tree Organization building in Phnom Penh (in December 2011, Patti Lee, Barbara Seagram and their Bridge Group from Toronto, Ontario raised enough funds to rebuild a new, larger two-storey school).
In March 2015, this school was built as a result of a generous donation from HTS Engineering in Toronto, Canada.
Moving forward, it has now become one of the Banyan Tree Organization schools supported by the fundraising efforts of Patti Lee and Barbara Seagram and the generosity of their bridge club members!
We are thrilled to announce the completion of our fourth school which opened January 22, 2018!
The teachers welcomed 158 students who were eager to attend.
April 2018: Currently 176 students are enrolled for Khmer, English, Maths and library activities.
The students too quickly learned how to properly wash their hands at the wash stations.
A new pavilion has been built at Chan Teap (prokeab) school in memory of CARL MCCOY (Husband of Lisa McCoy) Carl was very supportive of Lisa's work and due to his kindness she was able to dedicate much of her time to the projects in Cambodia for Banyan Learning Tree and A Mine Free World.
To Jan and Phil and to all those who attended Barbara's bridge class held in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in February 2017. We raised $9,500.00 USD for Cambodia!!! VERY exciting and the $$ will go a long way to help so many people. .
To the ACBL Charity Foundation Board of Trustees and members of the ACBL for $5,000 that was raised by the members of the ACBL, who play in special charity bridge games year-round in order to make contributions such as this possible.
To Judi Carter and Malkin Howes, for organizing Patti Lee's lesson at the Grand River Bridge Club in Kitchener and of course all the attendees!
To the bridge players of Syracuse and Rochester for supporting the Patti Lee seminar on INFERENCES. Once again Mary Miller did an amazing job organizing the event.
